Structure                                                 

The Stem Cell Research Center hosts more than 40 faculty members in the following areas of focus:

  • bone and cartilage repair

  • muscle and nerve injuries

  • hematopoiesis and vasculogenesis

  • stem cell identification and characterization


Research is supported by core facilities for:

  • production and expansion of stem cells isolated from skeletal muscle and other tissues

  • engineering new viral and non-viral vectors

  • bioreactors for cell culture

  • cytogenics, histology, and immunogenetics

  • biomechanics and muscle physiology

  • cell sorting by flow cytometry

  • murine research
