Increasing the supply of pancreatic islets, finding the best vectors to deliver genes to the islets, and identifying ways to protect transplanted islets from autoimmunity and alloimmunity are among current research projects. Institute researchers also are seeking ways to prevent and/or ameliorate the progression of diabetic neuropathy.
