Chuanyue Wu, Ph.D.

Dr. Wu is a Professor of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Wu initially joined the University faculty in 2000 as Visiting Associate Professor. He received his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Molecular Cell Biology and Biochemistry) from the University of Pittsburgh, and his M.S. in Biochemistry, East China University of Chemical Technology, Shanghai, China. He also holds a B.S. in Biochemistry, from East China University of Chemical Technology, Shanghai, China.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Wu’s began his post doctoral training here at the University in Biological Sciences and in 1994 completed his training at Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Center Mayo Foundation/Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ.

Dr. Wu holds memberships in the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Council on Thrombosis, American Heart Association.

The research in his laboratory focuses on Cell- extracellular matrix adhesion and the fundamental process that regulates cell shape, proliferation and differentiation. Abnormalities in cell-matrix adhesion and extracellular matrix assembly are closely associated with the pathogenesis of a variety of human diseases including cancer and diabetic nephropathy. Students and post-doctoral researchers learn a wide variety of molecular and cell biological techniques and the opportunity to develop new research projects and contribute to the advance of this exciting area in molecular and cellular pathology.

For his research efforts, Dr. Wu has been featured in several publications and has been the recipient of numerous awards.
