Dr. Wearden is an Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Georgetown University with honors and then received his M.D. from West Virginia University, School of Medicine and then his Ph.D. also from West Virginia University in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
In 2003, Dr. Wearden was Director of Surgery for the McGowan Center for Preclinical Testing at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and then following that position, he was a Clinical Instructor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Under his post-graduate studies he held positions which included being a Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery department at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and held several positions at West Virginia University, School of Medicine which included Chief Resident in Surgery, Senior Surgical Resident, Research Associate, Intern and Junior Surgical Resident and Research Assistant.
Dr. Wearden has also been involved in many research projects being the Principle Investigator and Co-Investigator.
