Dr. Yu-li Wang is Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to this he was a Professor in the Departments of Physiology, Cell Biology, and Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Dr. Wang got his BS in Physics from National Taiwan University in Taipei. He earned his PhD in Biophysics from Harvard University, where he then served as a postdoctoral associate.
Dr. Wang is a member of the American Society for Cell Biology, the Biophysical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He is an Associate Editor of Cancer Cell International and of Molecular Biology of the Cell.
Dr. Wang’s research areas include:
- mechanisms of cell division and migration
- mechanics of cell-matrix interactions
- mechanotransduction
- live cell imaging
- image processing in fluorescence imaging
- micromanipulation
