David Swigon, Ph.D

Dr. David Swigon is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently also an Associate Member in the Department of Computational Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Swigon received his M.S in Applied Math from Charles University in Prague and then went on to receive his Phd in Theoretical Mechanics from Rutgers University.

Dr. Swigon was previously an Associate Member of the BioMaPS Institute and a Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry at Rutgers University. His teaching experience includes Math at the University of Pittsburgh and Computational Biochemistry at Rutgers University.

Dr. David Swigon's Research Interests include:

  • Systems biology, computational molecular biology, mathematical modeling of gene regulation, dynamics of genetic and signaling networks.
  • Applied dynamical systems theory, bifurcation analysis methods in chemistry and biology
  • DNA and protein elasticity, DNA topology and supercoiling, variational inequalities
