Dr. Juan Ochoa holds several positions which include Honorary Professor at the University of Antioquia in Antioquia, Colombia and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Associate Professor of Critical Care Medicine both at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Ochoa received his M.D at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia. His previous positions included Teaching Assistant at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Emergency Ward Faculty member at Hospital Universitario San Vicente de Paul in Medellin Colombia, Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine in Lexington, KY and Visiting Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He was also a Rural Health Physician at the National Health Service in Antioquia, Colombia.
Dr. Juan Ochoa is currently on the Editorial Board for Journal of Surgical Research.
Dr. Ochoa’s Research Interests include:
- Manipulation of immune responses through nutritional intervention
- Nutrient-dependent gene expression
- Mechanisms of prevention of compensatory anti-inflammatory response syndrome after trauma and surgery
- Arginine metabolism and atherogenesis
