Dennis M. McNamara, M.D.
Dr. Dennis M. McNamara is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. McNamara received his undergraduate degree at Yale University where he graduated summa cum laude in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He then went on to receive his M.D from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA where he graduated cum laude. Over the years, Dr. McNamara has held several positions including Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. McNamara was also a Clinical Assistant in Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and was also the Director of Cardiomyopathy Clinic, the Heart Failure Research Program and the Heart Failure Section at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

He has served on the Tacrolimus Task Force of the Institutional Review Board, as been on the Medical School Admissions Committee-University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and has also been on the Cardiac Transplant Selection Committee. Dr. McNamara has several current research interests which include

 

  • Etiology and pathogenesis of dilated Cardiomyopathies.
  • Inflammatory syndromes of cardiovascular disease.
  • Genetic modulation of outcomes in cardiovascular disease.
