Joseph E. Dohar, M.D., M.S., FAAP, FACS
Dr. Joseph Dohar holds a BS and an MD from Ohio State University and received his MS from the University of Minnesota in 1992. After completing a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Dr. Dohar joined the staff of UPMC Presbyterian and Children’s Hospitals in 1994. He joined the faculty of McGowan Institute in 2001 and is currently a research director at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in the Aerodigestive Center. Dr. Dohar is also an associate professor in the School of Medicine in both Otolaryngology and the Communication Science Disorders Department.

Dr. Dohar is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the society of Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children (SENTAC).  He is board certified in otolaryngology and involved in several active research projects as a result of grants.

LIST OF CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS:

  • Wound healing and tissue engineering for applications in the skin and upper aerodigestive tract.
  • Pathophysiology and treatment of upper airway and advances and treatment of suppurative otitis media
  • Selected clinical problems in pediatric otolaryngology –pediatric voice, resonance and swallowing.
