Steven Docimo, M.D.
Dr. Steven Docimo came to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2000 and has been the Vice President of Medical Affairs since January 2007.  He is also a member of the hospital’s Board of Trustees.  Additionally, Dr. Docimo is the Vice Chairman of Urology and a Tenured Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  Prior to arriving in Pittsburgh, Dr. Docimo was a Tenured Professor of Urology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Docimo earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, where he graduated summa cum laude.  He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1984.  He performed his post-graduate internship at the National Naval Medical Center and followed that with a year at Georgetown University.  He did his residency with the Harvard Program in Urology and his Fellowship in Pediatric Urology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Docimo is Co-Investigator on Efficacy of Prophylactic Antimicrobials in Children with VUR.  This study is funded by the NIH/NIDDK.  His other research interests include:
  • global outcomes pediatric surgery;
  • minimally invasive surgery in children;
  • outcomes in exstrophy surgery;
  • uroradiology techniques;
  • pediatric voiding dysfunction;
  • hypospadias techniques;
  • urodynamic monitoring; and
  • cost-effectiveness modeling.
