Puwat Charukamnoetkanok, M.D.
Dr. Puwat Charukamnoetkanok is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the faculty at Pitt in 2004, Dr. Charukamnoetkanok was on the associate staff of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. He had previously earned his MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, finished an internship at Columbia University’s Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, and completed a residency at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Charukamnoetkanok has received many honors and awards, including the Outstanding Teaching and Commitment to Education Award for 2003, which given by the residents at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is also a former Phi Beta Kappa member and recipient of a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholarship.
Dr. Charukamnoetkanok’s research areas of interest include diseases of the cornea and ocular surface, uveitis (inflammation of the eye), and corneal stem cells biology.
