Dr. Christopher Bettinger earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University before he came to Pittsburgh, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Bettinger’s research interests include: BioMEMS for tissue regeneration; biodegradable electronic devices; biomimetic tissue-device interfaces; non-conventional microfabrication of biomaterials; rational biomaterials synthesis; and quantitative elucidation of biodegradation phenomena. He has won numerous awards, such as the American Chemical Society AkzoNobel Award – Outstanding Graduate Research in Polymer Chemistry, the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists, and the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine – Young Investigator Award.
