Dr. David Baer holds several positions in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas which include; Director for the Office of Research for the US Army Institute of Surgical Research, Program Area Manager for Bone and Soft Tissue Trauma Research, a DTO Manager for Defense Technology Objective MD.30 (Battlefield Treatment of Fractures and Soft Tissue Trauma Care), STO Manager for Science and Technology for both Objective S and F (Soft Tissue Trauma Care) and Battlefield Treatment of Fractures) and he is also a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for various extramural research programs.
Dr. Baer received his Ph.D in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Hawaii, in Manoa. Dr. David Baer is also a Principal investigator and project leader for the Combat Wound Antisepsis program, developing and testing dressings and treatments for the protection of combat wounds using animal models of wound infection. And is an Affiliate member of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA.
Previously, Dr. Baer was Chair of the Institute of Surgical Research/Brooke Army Medical Center Joint Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, held the position as Alternate Chair, of the USA Institute of Surgical Research Animal Care and Use Committee and was Assistant Chair of Science and Technology Objective Committee for Soft Tissue Trauma Care and Battlefield Treatment of Fractures.
