Dr. Latha Satish is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Community College of Allegheny County/Allegheny Campus. Prior to this she worked as a Research Associate and then as a Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Genomic Sciences at the Allegheny-Singer Research Institute. She first came to the University for postdoctoral training in the Department of Pathology after she earned her undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in Zoology at the University of Madras, Chennai, India.
Dr. Satish’s research interests include:
Cellular and molecular mechanisms of scarless wound healing
Genomic analysis of Dupuytren’s contracture
Biological means to reduce palmar fascia fibrosis
Probiotic therapy for wound management
Bacterial bio-burden and biofilms in burn wounds
Chronic wound healing
Dr. Satish is an Associate Editor for BMC Research Notes and on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine, and she is an article reviewer for several journals, including but not limited to, Wound Repair and Regeneration, Journal of Pathology, Pathophysiology of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, BBA- Molecular Basis of Disease, Journal of Porous Materials, Acta Orthopaedica, and Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. Dr. Satish is a Member of the Wound Healing Society, the Indian Wound Healing Society, and the American Association of Hand Surgery.
