Dr. Gerhardt Konig is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, and a Staff Anesthesiologist at Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC.
Dr. Konig completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at San Diego resulting in a BSc Bioengineering in 2001. From 2006-2010, he completed his graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine obtaining his MD. He continued his postgraduate training from 2010-2011 at the West Penn Allegheny Health System in Internal Medicine, from 2011-2013 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology as a NIH T32 Research Fellow, and from 2013-2016 in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Anesthesiology Residency Program in the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Konig was awarded the Best Scholarly Resident Award in 2016 from the Department of Anesthesiology.

Autonomous control of fluid and blood product administration
Perioperative technology and innovation
New sensors and devices
Patient blood management
