Mr. Daniel McKeel joined the McGowan Institute in February of 2001 as a Designer/Fabricator. Mr. McKeel's interests lie in the use of Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, and Computer Aided Engineering tools in the design and fabrication of medical devices, mechanisms, and instruments. Prior to his arrival in 2001, Mr. McKeel held several positions in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) since 1980.
During his time at CMU, Mr. McKeel served as an Instructional Research Technician. His responsibilities included the design and fabrication of department research equipment and devices, and instruction of undergraduate mechanical engineers in the construction of their engineering projects, and the application of computer aided design tools to the fabrication and design of mechanisms.
In addition to his appointment at CMU, before joining the McGowan Institute faculty, Mr. McKeel also worked for Rockwell International Corporation as a Modelmaker for the Municipal and Utilities Gas and Water Meter R&D Laboratory.
