Program Direction
Program Directors
The Cellular Approaches to Tissue Engineering and Regeneration (CATER) training program is directed by Dr. Alan Russell. Dr. Russell is joined by Dr. Robert Bowser who serves as the Training Director for CATER. Dr. Russell is responsible for overall coordination of the program and for ensuring that the multiple departments and schools work together effectively. Dr. Russell is also ultimately responsible for ensuring that the program is effectively administered. Dr. Bowser is responsible for the day-to-day operation of CATER and has been the central figure in the development of the current curriculum.

Program Committees

Drs. Russell and Bowser are assisted in the administration of the Training Program by advisory committee members who provide ongoing critical evaluation of the program and its trainees. Overall program guidance for CATER is performed by an Executive Committee which includes the chairs of the standing committees and one student (chosen yearly by the students) that meet on a quarterly basis. Interfacing with the Executive committee is a small group of standing committees:

Executive Committee

CHAIR: Alan Russell, Ph.D., McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine
Robert Bowser, Ph.D., Department of Pathology
Harvey S. Borovetz, Ph.D., Department of Bioengineering
Alan Wells, Ph.D., DMSc., Department of Pathology
William R. Wagner, Ph.D., McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine
