Directed Research (Summer Term)
Dr. Badylak provides summer research opportunities for 5 - 10 students each year. Eligible students do not need to attend the University of Pittsburgh, and include undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Each student is typically assigned to work on 2 - 3 different projects and is partnered with a laboratory mentor (research assistant professor, postdoctoral fellow, or senior graduate student) for each project. Throughout the research experience (i.e., internship), each student meets regularly with Dr. Badylak and is expected to provide weekly research updates and present a final report in an oral presentation at a laboratory meeting.
Next step? Letters of interest for participation in a summer research experience should be received no later than February 15, 2019. Information regarding dates of availability, particular research areas of interest, and a current resume should be provided to Dr. Badylak's attention c/o Rachel Thomas Beckel. Rachel responds to each inquiry by scheduling a 15-20 minute interview with Dr. Badylak. Face-to-face interviews are preferred over phone interviews but for students who are not local, Skype interviews are acceptable.
