Directed Research (Summer Term)
Dr. Badylak provides research opportunities for 5 - 10 students during the summer semester. These students can be internal or external to the University of Pittsburgh community and be classified as undergraduate, graduate, or medical. Each student is typically assigned to work on 2 - 3 different projects and is assigned a laboratory mentor (research assistant professor, postdoctoral fellow, or senior graduate student) for each project. Throughout the research experience (i.e., internship), each student meets regularly with Dr. Badylak and will also be expected to provide Dr. Badylak with written weekly research updates.
Next step? Letters of interest for participation in a summer research experience should be received no later than February 28, 2017. Information regarding dates of availability, particular areas of interest, and a current resume should be provided to Dr. Badylak's attention c/o Rachel Thomas Beckel. Rachel responds to each inquiry by scheduling a 15-20 minute interview with Dr. Badylak. Face-to-face interviews are preferred over phone interviews but for students who are not local, skype interviews are acceptable.
